TAIBA The beach of Taiba is situated about 65 kms away from Fortaleza and the international airport. From the Fortaleza from the airport, you can get to Taiba along a nice road, where you will see lagoons and “Carnaübas” (palm trees growing from the water). You will get into the Taiba in less than one hour. At the beginning, the Indians were living in Taiba and the name “Taiba” means in Indian, small village. During the 20’s simples people were living in small hut house, without electricity on getting only by walk, on with “donkey” , because at that time, there was no road. Now, there are about 3500 persons living there. His economy is based on fishing, tourist, handcraft and little bit of commerce. Taiba’s handcraft is such rich that you will be able to choose your holiday’s keepsake. Several restaurants and bars will offer different atmospheres to animate your night. On Saturday night o traditional Antonio’s “Forro” will give to you the opportunity to dance with local people on Brazilian music. The beach of “Taibinha” (small Taiba) is the postcard of Taiba, know all around Brazil. There is a gastronomic celebration end of August, that’s call “Escargot Festival”. Also, because of its localization and strong wind the practice of Kitesurf is getting important. Some oasis on the border of the lagoon will reserve lots of surprises to you and with a little of courage, and walking around the dunes, you will be able to discover this small piece of paradise. Le Ceará Along his 575 kms of beautiful beaches, you will discover white sand dunes “falaises”, coconuts trees and the green sea brings a last touch of this “countryside” of dreams. The most attractive monuments are the cultural center of “ Dragão do mar” (30 000m² dedicated of Art and Culture), the Alencar theatre (1910) and restored in 1991, the Metropolitan Cathedral ( Jorge Maunier, French architect), the Iracema Statue, the Nossa senhora de Assunção’s Fort (1643), The center of Conservation of the Railroad Story, the historic and Anthropologic museum of Ceara. The Beach Park, the biggest aquatic park of South America with his 41m high slide, that will take you about 15 km\h that is really impressive. We also can visit the central handcraft market ,or choose the night time handcraft market, that is working every night on the beach of “ Meireles” or even called “Beira Mar”. Night time life by excellence with his several restaurant and night clubs with the most famous is “the Pirate”. |
